Detroit
In 2016, Paul Devitt read about the renaissance taking place in downtown Detroit and took a trip to check out the culture, history and nightlife of this great city. Impressed by the energy and architectural preservation of the area, he approached the owners of the soon-to-open Siren Hotel (formerly the Wurlitzer Building). Within two years of that meeting, Sid Gold’s Detroit was born.
About The Founders
Paul Devitt and Joe McGinty opened the first Sid Gold’s Request Room in NYC in 2015. Prior to founding Sid Gold’s, Paul launched the iconic Beauty Bar in NYC which celebrated its 26th anniversary in 2023. Beauty Bar became a small chain around the country, with ten outposts at its peak. He also created other fondly remembered hot spots including Barmacy in NYC, Star Shoes in LA, and Silk City in Philadelphia.
Joe McGinty started the Loser’s Lounge in 1994, a live band tribute show which currently resides in NYC at Joe’s Pub at the Public Theater. Previously, McGinty was the keyboardist of the Psychedelic Furs for five years.
